Leeds, Yorkshire - On May 14, 2023, rugby league legend Kevin Sinfield stopped short of the finish line at the inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon after sustaining an injury. The marathon was held in honor of Rob Burrow, a former rugby league player who was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) in 2019.

Sinfield has been a vocal supporter of Burrow since his diagnosis, and he has raised millions of pounds for MND research. He was set to run the marathon alongside Burrow, but he was forced to pull out after suffering a hamstring injury during the race.

Despite not finishing the race, Sinfield was honored for his dedication to Burrow and the MND community. He received a standing ovation from the crowd as he crossed the finish line on foot, and he was presented with a special award by the marathon organizers.
