Akron Community Demands Justice for Jayland Walker

NAACP-Led March and Rally Protests Unjust Killing

July 3, 2022, Akron, Ohio

On Sunday, July 3, 2022, hundreds of people marched and rallied in Akron, Ohio, to demand justice for Jayland Walker, an unarmed Black man who was shot and killed by police officers on June 27th. The march was led by the Akron chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Walker's death sparked outrage and protests in Akron and across the nation. Police officers chased Walker on foot after a traffic stop and fired dozens of shots at him, striking him multiple times. Walker was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

The NAACP and other community organizations are calling for a thorough and transparent investigation into Walker's death. They are also demanding that the officers involved be held accountable for their actions.

The march and rally were part of a growing movement across the United States to protest police brutality and systemic racism. The Akron community is united in its demand for justice for Jayland Walker and for all victims of police violence.
